A Profile of Adidas Originals

Adidas is the second biggest sports wear brand in the World after the American brand Nike and the largest in Europe. They were founded back in 1924 in the German state of Bavaria. Adolf Dassler was the founder of the company, he was originally in business with his younger brother Rudolf but after the Second World War they had a falling out and went their separate way with Rudolf founding the label Puma and Adolf creating Adidas.

Despite the brands good sales they were struggling by the end of the 1980's and were purchased in 1989 by Bernard Tapie who was the owner of the French football team Marseille. Tapie however was unable to pay back the loans he borrowed to buy the company and it was sold in 1993 to Robert Louis-Dreyfus for a figure believed to be around eight billion dollars and he is still CEO of the company today.

In particular the company specialises in trainers and footwear for athletes and sportsmen alike. They have always been strongly associated with the sport of soccer on both a professional and amateur level creating both team kits and soccer boots which are very popular. They provide the kit and boots for famous professional football clubs such as Liverpool and Real Madrid and international sides such as Germany and Spain.

In recent years Adidas have launched the Originals diversion line which aims to be more fashion driven to appeal to a different market. The clothing is more vintage inspired and they have reintroduced many pairs of trainers that they used to make years ago with they call their classic line.

Getting The Right Bag for Your Activity

If you are regularly sporting then one of the things that you need to buy when you have all your gear is a sports bag. These are different from other bags because they have a feature suited to the type of sport you participate in.

There are so many possibilities when it comes to these bags and you will have to skimp through a majority of them before finally settling on the bag that you would wish to have. It must correspond to your sports and its needs.

Take a look at those who have to go for swimming on the regular. They don't really have to carry a lot of stuff but they do however need to carry wet stuff once they are done with their session. Such an athlete therefore would need a sports bag that would not let their clothing and other belongings get wet.

A person who is playing soccer on the other hand, will have to consider how he/she will be carrying the soccer ball to the pitches for their match. There are bags out there that you can find that have attached meshes specifically for carrying soccer or basketball balls.

When it comes to sports like field hockey and lacrosse, the bags are totally different. These will need to be quite elongated so that the players can carry their sticks or bats the games.

Another one of the considerations that needs to be made is in the mode of carrying the bag. A good choice for most light weight gear or sticks for example would be short handles.

If however you will need to free your hands for something else, for example when biking, it would be better to opt for the back packs that will not require your attention to them at all.

There is a bag out there for everybody, all you have to do is find yours.

Cheap Air Tickets - Best Tips on How to Save Some Money for Airline Fare

It is no doubt that times are not that easy now, particularly with finances and with this not-so-good condition of the economy, it is but practical that individuals become familiar on ways that can help them obtain cheap air tickets in the event that traveling is something that needs to be part of things to do. Of course, a lot of people have come to grips with the benefits of booking as early as months before their trip to enjoy the rewards of waiting for promos and other cheap offers by travel agencies and airline companies. Just like all other problems, there is always a solution in your desire to fly cheap besides booking in advance as your first in your long list of tips to get hold of affordable travel deals.

One of the most possible ways that you can do to obtain cheap air tickets is to fly during weekdays particularly during Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Additionally, you can also opt for the first flight during the morning; however, some are not taking this chance because of the need to wake up too early in the morning when others are still snoring with pleasure on their beds. However, if you put some sensible thinking into this, you can still be able to catch up on your sleep while you head to your destination, although it is undeniable that the quality of your sleep in the airline seat is not as paramount as that in your own bed; but still you can sleep, right?

If you will need to buy last minute travel tickets during emergencies, you can also get cheap air tickets if you use the same airline going to and from your destination. If you carefully evaluate, you would notice that this doing so would turn out that you bought your air ticket cheaper than when you use different airlines.

In case you are not aware, flying out of bigger airports is way cheaper than heading for small, local airports. If this means bigger discounts, well, why not consider this instead? In addition to that, asking your travel agent about cheaper airlines in case you need to travel within the country only is another cheaper option to concentrate on.

Another tip is to make your itinerary flexible because the rates at odd timings are almost always way cheaper than traveling with a fixed itinerary. Also, asking for multiple connecting flights although not that convenient would help you save money for paying your airline ticket. Keep in mind that the more stop-over you have, the greater saving you will enjoy when it comes to the total cost of your ticket.

Do keep in mind that traveling is a fun and worthy experience be it for business or pleasure, which should not be troubled with the need to buy pricey airline tickets. There is a way to deal with this by means of buying cheap air tickets. It just takes time and effort as well as dedicated research for you to get the best travel deals possible. Bon Voyage!

Shoe Store Design and Supply Play Critical Role as Sales Tools

Shoes, more than any other article of clothing, have really come a long way in the past century. 100 years ago, most people, men and women alike, had just one or maybe two pair of shoes- day shoes for work and night shoes for anything else.

In 2006, even the most modest of men probably have at least 5 pair. There's tennis shoes, dress shoes, dress casual shoes, sandals, work boots, hiking boots and more, all just for men. And you would be hard pressed to find an American woman who owned less than 10-15 pair of shoes in this day and age- pumps, high heels, short heels, sandals in hundreds of varieties, and more.

But according to a recent internet poll by http://www.krstarica.com, 41% of Americans surveyed buy new shoes several times per year. That's great news if you own a shoe store. But how do you ensure that those customers keep coming back to you? Running a successful shoe store in 2006 starts with minding the supply and design of the store. It is important to use these elements to create an environment that your customers will feel comfortable in.

Start with the details, because those are the things that customers notice first. Small things like having plenty of shoe mirrors and properly displaying your products can make a big difference. It's easy to get caught up in having the latest and greatest products. That's fine. But remember that shopping is an experience for customers, and that takes into account the whole store and staff, not just products.

Here are a few pointers to keep in mind when designing your shoe store to help you attract and retain customers:

Pay Attention to Aisle Spacing: In an effort to offer the most, we sometimes forget that the most important thing to a shoe store customer is comfort. Make the store design reflect that ideal of comfort, and supply plenty of space in each aisle for several customers to try on and test out shoes at any given time.

Mirror, Mirror on the Floor: Give customers a convenient way to check out their new kicks by providing plenty of floor mirrors that will give them an "all-angles" look at their shoes. Second only to (and sometimes even more important than) comfort is style.

Put Your Products on Display: Again, instead of getting caught up in supplying more products, do a better job of providing better products and better displays for those products. Customers are much more prone to try on shoes they've seen on display than dig through boxes to find the right color and design for their tastes.

Online Soccer Stores - Save Time and Get Super Savings

Online soccer stores provide instant solutions for a variety of soccer needs. Imagine searching for odd-sized pair of shoes or the exact color for your soccer cleats. You may end up spending the whole day visiting local sports shops and still not find them. If only you had browsed through some online outlets.

Order Authentic Soccer Kits and Equipment Instantly

All the big brands are available on the net, which means you need not worry about authenticity or quality. The latest Puma, Adidas, Nike, or Diadora brand of cleats would be instantly presented to you on your computer screen, if that is what you are looking for. It's a big time saver, and you can be sure to receive your item within a short period of time.

The FIFA World Cup 2010 has once again demonstrated the influence this wonderful game has over people. Soccer buffs need just the right motivation to buy what their soccer idols do. Beckham appeared on BBC's Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and revealed that he loved building the 5,922-piece Lego model of the Taj Mahal. What do think happened? The same kit which retails for $300 had a massive 663 percent increase in sales over a period of just 24 hours. And it was only available in online soccer stores.

Want To Surprise Your Loved Ones With Soccer Gifts?

How about a wedding giveaway ball or anniversary soccer ball? Some may want an antique old-style soccer ball to remind them of their playing days. You can actually get balls made of genuine leather used in the 1950s.

It is possible to get the best tickets to an Old Trafford match directly from season tickets holders. They can also be bought over a secondary ticket exchange. Innovative online entrepreneurs have forged alliances with companies from across the globe to offer you tickets for top US and European matches. It's actually fun trying to beat others to a coveted seat at the location of your choice.

Availability Is Not An Issue

While looking for soccer training equipment, you may not find the right goalie gear at a local store. It would be quite tiresome and time consuming trying to locate a store that stocks the gear. Online, you have the power to visit as many stores as you wish to choose from several kits that match your requirement. An added advantage is that it could be available at a highly discounted rate. You can buy cleats, balls, jerseys, giveaways, promotional articles, or other soccer shopping items online.

Get The Item Delivered To Your Doorstep

Online outlets have come to stay because they deliver on what they promise. Items are shipped across continents at great speed. It is possible to make arrangements for the best soccer shoes to reach your home beating geographical constraints. Logistic details have been fine tuned to perfection. What if you got the latest Man U replica jersey and got to wear it at Old Trafford? It's possible with online soccer stores, you know.

Selecting Soccer Cleats - Nightmare or Lack of Knowledge?

What kind of soccer cleats should you buy?

There are so many choices. And all this marketing nonsense out there. Exactly. There is no simple answer to this question. How to buy proper soccer cleats could be very challenging but it does not have to become a nightmare. With the adequate knowledge you can easily choose the right soccer shoes for yourself or your child, if that's the case.

So, let's see what should you look for while buying soccer cleats?
Besides the price, you want to make sure they are comfortable.
But how would you know if they give you enough comfort, before you play in them at least few times?

You won't.

But you can increase your chances of buying comfortable soccer cleats by considering the following factors:

1. Manufacturer.

2. True Leather or Synthetic.

3. Studs Type.

4. Size.

Let's talk about these factors a little bit more.

Manufacturer
Adidas and Nike are the 2 most popular. For a good reason. They are probably the best on the market.

While Adidas has manufactured soccer shoes "forever", Nike has made great strides over the last few years. Both companies make equally good quality soccer shoes.

I personally never played in Nike's shoes, so I can't tell you about this brand from my experience. My sons played soccer using both brands. After trying them for a while, the younger son sticks to Nike while Pat (older) uses Adidas shoes only. They both are very happy with their selections.
Do you know why?

Their feet are build differently. Pat has a much wider foot than his brother. Adidas makes its cleats bigger in width than Nike.

Basically if you have:

· Wide foot - look for a pair of Adidas Soccer Cleats.

· Skinny foot - look for a pair of Nike Soccer Cleats.

It wouldn't be fair not to mention 2 other brands, almost as good as the above two:
Diadora and Puma.
Other brands like: Umbro, Kelme, Mitre, Lotto - only if you really can't afford the brands mentioned above or if you just simply like these brands.

True Leather or Synthetic

Upper portion of every soccer shoe is made out of either true leather or synthetic material.

What is better?

True leather...in my opinion. And I recommend it to everybody who is serious about playing soccer.

True leather gives you an uncompromising feel of the ball. It molds to your feet producing great comfort. It also lasts longer than synthetic materials. And it is healthier for your feet.
Synthetic materials don't let the feet "breathe" building up of sweat, potential blisters and feet problem in the near future.

But...(of course there is a "but")
...True leather cleats cost more.
There are few different types of leather used to manufacture soccer cleats.
The least expensive is full grain. Sometimes full grain leather soccer shoes could cost only slightly more than "artificial". Spending $10-20 more on much better shoes would be really worth it.
The best leather out on the market is K-Leather (Kangaroo). Though more expensive but it is softer, lighter and still durable.
If your feet are not growing like the speed of sound and your budget is not too tight, definitely consider buying soccer cleats made from K-Leather.

There is another "but" or an exception to my "non-synthetic soccer shoes" rule: soccer cleats made of high quality synthetic material.
These soccer shoes are manufactured with special microfiber technology that upgrades synthetic material, usually a PU (polyurethane). It makes the PU very soft, and strong, giving it similar feel to a natural material. Top Super-Microfiber material can be just as expensive as some leather!

Nowadays almost all-leading sport's footwear manufacturers use microfiber materials. For example, Nike makes their top quality cleats from super lightweight synthetic material called KNG-100 (Air Zoom Total 90) and Nike-Skin (Mercurial Vapor). Even Adidas, for the first time, used microfiber for its newest creation Adidas Predator Absolute (there is a Kangaroo leather model as well).
So, my "non-synthetic cleats rule" applies only to a regular (cheap) synthetic material like PU or PVC (polyvinylchloride).

Studs Type
Molded Studs
There are practically two different molded soccer cleats on the market.
The traditional - contains a sole that has round studs (usually between ten to fifteen).
The X-Grip (or Bladed shape) - slimmer than round studs, strategically placed in different angles to offer a player a better footing.

Soccer shoes with molded round studs (traditional) are more universal. What I mean is that, this type of soccer cleats are good for hard and firm surfaces as well as for soft grounds. However, they are not really reliable for extreme circumstances like: very hard and dry fields (turf shoes will be the ultimate choice here) or very soft and wet surface (screw-ins).
The X-Grip design is manufactured for specific field conditions. In this case, with different length and angles of studs, we have to choose between soccer cleats made specifically for either hard (HG), firm (FG) or soft (SG) ground. Your choice then should be based on the type of fields you play soccer on the most.
If you play on all kinds of surfaces, I would recommend-traditional round studs.
But if you really want to stick to new style, then buy X-Grip for firm pitch (FG).
Of course, the best scenario would be to have two pairs of soccer cleats for different field conditions. But who can afford it? Not to many of us.

Replaceable (screw-ins) cleats are very optional.
Most young soccer players do not need them. With the poor quality of most youth fields, screw-ins just wouldn't get enough use to warrant purchase.
Unless, you play a lot on great, soft fields and have extra cash (screw-ins can not be the only soccer cleats you have). Also some leagues do not allow this type of equipment.

Size
It is very important that the soccer cleats you buy must fit perfectly. This means as snug as possible, tight to the foot (sorry parents, you can't have growing room in soccer cleats). Close-fitting shoes facilitate the best touch (the feel for the ball).
Soccer shoes I usually get, for my older son (16 years old) and myself, are ½ size smaller. This is, because leather expands after a while and then molds to the foot. For my 10 year old, since synthetic does not stretch and cleats in junior size are not that expensive, I buy his exact shoe size.

Find Sports

Finding a sport for me

As well as a large number of local clubs you can join and facilities you can use there are also national organisations which promote sport for young people like Sport England. There are also national funding programmes like the National Lottery which can give young people an opportunity to develop their sport. This section concentrates on these organisations. Almost all of them will be able to put you in touch with a local organisation. This section also includes information on being a spectator and supporter.

Most people's experience of playing sport begins at school, either in the playground at break time or in games lessons. Some people love school sport and go on to play in their spare time. For others it is a weekly chore and the sooner it is over the better.

If you never really liked sport at school you probably wont feel very enthusiastic about taking it up later. But sport is a very broad term and just because you had a miserable time doing cross country at school doesn't mean you won't enjoy archery or rollerblading for example. Perhaps you're just not so good at running but you might have a really steady arm for snooker!

Some of the most popular sports are easy to play without much equipment The most important thing about sport is being able to participate in it. The more you play the better you get. You may find that you want to play in a team and compete with others and this is the point when your sport gets more serious and questions about equipment, access to facilities and travel costs become more important.

Sport is also a great way of getting to meet people. If you're stuck at home or feeling lonely, joining a sport club can give you an excuse to meet new people. In the section on different sports we've included information on how much it costs to play the sport, where to go for a local contact and what kind of opportunities there are for disabled people.

Where can I play sport?

All local authority leisure departments provide sports facilities in their area. The Government has introduced new Sport Action Zones to enhance community sports across England. The programme is intended to run for 10 years. Call your local authority to find out what is available for you locally.

You don't have to play sport in a sports hall or recreation centre, kicking a ball in the park, walking the dog or practising yoga at home are all beneficial sporting activities. You and a group of friends may like to form your own football team, running group or perhaps even a Frisbee challenge team! All of these activities can be enjoyed informally. If you want more details about any sporting activity, contact one of the sports organisations in our listing.

Are you getting enough exercise?

The Health Education Authority (now the Health Development Agency) published a very useful leaflet called "Getting Active - Feeling Fit". The guide encourages you to make exercise part of your weekly routine. They have the following advice for young people:

"When you're young, it's easy to think that you don't need to bother exercising. But it's vital to keep active to keep yourself in good shape. Not only will you look and feel better but you'll be less likely to store up health problems for the future."

The leaflet suggested you do some or all of the following:
-Join a local leisure centre;
-If there is a particular sport you enjoy, make enquiries with your local sports centre to see if there is a club you can join;
-If you prefer individual activities, try cycling, walking or jogging. You may know someone who would like to train with you;
-There may be discounts available to young people in your area. Find out from the local council if schemes like this operate in your area;
-Don't forget dancing... A night on the dance floor can use up as much energy as a full workout!

Contact the HEA if you would like to receive a copy of their leaflet.

There are a number of organisations in the UK promoting sport in general or the development of a particular sport. Here we have included details of organisations promoting a general interest in sport, including the Sports Council, National Coaching Foundation and the Sports Council Lottery Fund.

Cheap World Cup Accommodation in Durban - Experience the World Cup to the Fullest

The 2010 Federation Internationale de Football Association's World Cup will be held in Durban, South Africa starting in June. Will you be there?

This year's Cup promises to be one of the best ever and matches will be intense, historic, and experiencing them will be a once in a lifetime event. Will you be there?

In the past, the costs to attend a World Cup have often been prohibitive. Many fans and enthusiasts have missed out because they just can't afford 700-900 Euros a night for a hotel stay. Especially when the games run for five weeks.

This year, we're bringing something new and much more fun to the event. This year, you can stay in Durban for a fraction of the cost of the hotels downtown without compromising your safety. You can camp in a secure, friendly, and beautiful environment just minutes from downtown and only a few paces from local pubs and restaurants.

Camping on the campuses of two local schools, both very beautiful and very well-kept, you can have the best of both worlds: the best of camping and the best of a hotel. You and your mates can enjoy full amenities camping with access to showers, restrooms, dining, a swimming pool, beaches, and more.

These campuses are just ten minutes walk from the beach, two or three minutes walk from pubs and restaurants, and shuttle service runs every hour to Fan Parks and the stadium itself, so you can get to the game and into the action.

There is kitchen meals served daily, all day - breakfast, lunch and supper. The school halls have large rooms with a big screen TV and great sound so you won't miss a match just because you don't have tickets to the game.

For groups of friends who don't have a lot of money to spend on hotel stays, this is definitely the way to go. You and your mates can have the time of your lives camping, sampling the (real) local night life, and seeing the best the World Cup has to offer.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be one of the best showcases of football in history. Will you be there?

Begin Tennis By Selecting Shoes

People have come to use the term "tennis shoes" a little bit more broadly in order to categorize under this name different types of comfortable athletic type of shoes, also referred to as "sneakers" or "trainers." Everyone needs a pair of athletic shoes to exercise or perform different tasks, from cleaning the lawn to walking the dog around the park. However, due to the extensive variety of styles and models, knowing which athletic types of shoes best fit your current needs is rather intriguing. Shelves full of colors and designs do not provide only a huge selection of sports shoes for the prospective buyer to choose from, but can sometimes be the cause of a major headache. Thus, it is imperative for you to know which types of athletic shoes can help your feet feel comfortable while playing tennis, or exercising in general, even if you have never considered yourself to be an athletic type of person.

According to experts, sports footwear is now in the midst of the most rapid changes in the history of athletics. As new markets emerge and athletes need more support and comfort, consumer groups have been further categorized leading business executives working in the athletic footwear industry to rely constantly on research results. At the same time, most of the consumers, unaware of the different features each pair of athletic shoes has, are getting more and more confused just by viewing or listening to the companies' advertisements and the salespeople "briefly" describing their store's extensive sports shoes assortments. In this constantly changing environment, it seems difficult even to memorize the type of shoe one needs, much less the different elements each brand carries.

But there is no need for you to despair. Even if you do not plan to use them for any type of outdoor athletic activity, you should be familiar with the main sports footwear categories that you will come across when visiting a shoe store. Apart from running, any type of gym-related fitness activity like aerobics, for example, can be easily performed when one wears running-shoes, or any type of sneakers that provide support and cushioning. If you want to avoid slipping and falling while playing baseball, perhaps it is best to consider purchasing a pair of shoes that provides good traction; running-shoes or cross-trainers can suit you needs. Basketball needs you to jump to throw the ball, run and tackle. These movements can be easily performed when your feet are protected by specially designed shoes for this type of running and jumping game. American football and soccer need cleats, as anything else might cause injures not only to your feet, but also to your head. Hiking activities can be best pursued with a pair of hiking boots, which provide excellent ankle support and traction without making it difficult for you to lift your feet from the ground while crossing the forest. Finally, returning to the original question, tennis shoes are best for tennis. Many people decide to play tennis and wear other types of shoes, but not all shoes provide the needed support for the side to side movements performed when playing tennis or any other racquet sport. Thus, be careful of your final selection.

Concluding, if you need to purchase a pair of athletic shoes just to complete your casual appearance when outdoors, any type of the shoes described above can cover your walking around needs. But experts recommend you to select buying a pair of walking or canvas shoes, as these will allow your feet to breathe normally and will not increase your feet's precipitation levels. Tennis shoes are recommended, but last, after the running, basketball and cross-trainers types.

Soccer Shoes Are As Important to the Game As the Game Itself

Soccer is one of the most competitive sports in the world today. There are several aspects of soccer that play an important role in deciding the winner and this includes team performance, individual skills, soccer training, and equipment like soccer shoes. Shoes for Soccer have always been an integral factor when it comes to soccer skills and scoring goals. Of course, the shoes were initially designed to get a grip on the grass field and for hitting the ball hard.

The first soccer footwear were black in color and had black cleats as well. Somehow the black color became the classic color for soccer cleats across the world. Of course, now the colors of the cleats have expanded from black to white, blue, green, orange, red, and other colors as well but the black soccer shoes and cleats are still considered a classic. So where and how did soccer footwear come into being?

The first historical evidence of soccer cleats was observed with the most unlikely player of all - King Henry VIII. King Henry VIII ordered soccer boots from the Great Wardrobe and wore them during football matches he played in 1526. The boots worn by the King were made from leather and were hand-stitched by the royal cordwainer, Cornelius Johnson. Each pair of boots cost King Henry VIII four shillings.

Over the next 300 years, soccer slowly grew into a popular sport and this paved the way for proper soccer shoes. According to historical records, the first classic black soccer boots were noticed in the 1920's. A few years later, the shoe industry was revolutionized by the innovation of Adolf and Rudolf Dassler. The brothers started the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory (Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik) in Herzogenaurach in 1924. Adolf, also known as Adi had been making all types of sports shoes but he came into recognition when he persuaded US Sprinter Jesse Owens to wear them. Jesse Owens won 4 gold medals in the 1936 Summer Olympics. Later on, Adolf went ahead and created soccer shoes with replaceable cleats. The brothers split in 1947 with Rudolph opening a firm called Ruda, which was rebranded later as Puma. Adolf registered his company as adidas AG in 1949 and thus the story of classic black soccer shoes came into being. During the 1966 FIFA World Cup, 75% of the soccer players wore Adidas soccer cleats and that by all means was a huge achievement for the company.

Since then soccer shoes and cleats have been enhanced to a great degree making them integral to the overall performance of a player. There is more and more innovation involved in the soccer shoes of today with companies trying to create lighter shoes with flexible and controlling cleats. Some of the other top names in manufacturing soccer shoes or cleats include Reebok, Puma, Nike, Diadora, Umbro, Lotto, and Kelme. The soccer shoes of today are the best sports weapon that any soccer player can have in their armory!

10. Lee Dixon - What the Bling Was That?

Arsenal defender Dixon picked up a handsome fee for wearing Brook's football boots (technically known as "wellingtons"), but in his first game wearing them, scored an own goal of exceptional quality as he lobbed his back pass over keeper Seaman from 30 yards out. We hope the Bling was worth it. Dixon proves that sometimes players put da bling-bling before everything!

9. Lionel Messi - The Next Big Bling

Widely touted as the next Maradona, Messi plays for Barcelona but Inter Milan have rumoured to have offered £71 million for a transfer, which could see his Bling level rise to the Bling of the World!

8. Stan Bowles - Lord of the Blings

The maverick player of the seventies, cheekily tried to secure twice the sponsorship money by wearing one Gola football boot and one Adidas football boot for an England game against Holland in 1978. The England star enjoyed a rock star lifestyle, blowing upwards of a quarter of a millions pounds on gambling yet still remains in the public eye as a football pundit and bling-tastic role model.

7. Alan Ball - Vintage Bling

Sixties player who was the first player to wear white football boots at the beginning of the 1970/71 season. They were made by Hummel, but Ball didn't like them..."To be honest lads they were crap, like cardboard, so I got the young apprentices to paint my Adidas football boots white. It was great, till one day it rained and the black came through. A not too happy watching Hummel rep saw what I'd done so I said goodbye to the two grand."

6. Frank Lampard - Bling Kong!

Wears personalised Adidas Predator boots with his name and team number stitched into them. Unconfirmed reports claim this is so Lampard knows which football boots belongs to him. We can confirm that stories that Lampard also has an "L" and an "R" stitched into his football boots are definitely, absolutely, positively untrue as Frank has known his right from left for several months now.

5. Djibril Cissé - A Bling of Many Colours

Mis-firing striker Cisse when playing for Liverpool, once came out in odd coloured boots. He changed after half time into a matching pair but into lime green football boots. Known to change his hair colour as easily as his football boot colour. Backs up the on the field bling with his H2 Hummer with Louis Vuitton interior.

4. Francesco Totti - Signor Bling

After the World Cup finals, Diadora produced the Maximus Italia Gold Special Limited Edition football boot, an all-gold football boot for the World Cup Winner which when worn, needs to be viewed behind sunglasses to avoid the excessive glare and shine.

3. George Best - Godfather of Bling

Best was the greatest player of his generation and as the first football millionaire, set the standard for the modern players in many ways. The Stylo 'George Best' football boot looked like a pair of bowling shoes, with a white stripe from top to toe on each side. His champagne lifestyle and love of the Bling eventually took over from the football, cutting his career short.

2. Ronaldinho - Prince of Bling

Ronaldinho had two special pairs of football boots containing eight ounces of 24-carat gold with real 24-carat gold applied to the Nike logo. The football boots feature a gold embroidered letter "R" and number 10, the shirt Ronaldinho wears for Barcelona, while the heel of the football boot is embossed with five gold stars in honour of Brazil's five FIFA World Cup wins.

1. David Beckham - King of Bling

They cost him around £600 per pair and he wears a new pair every game. Adidas have made only 723 pairs and only in his size. He has even had feng shui symbols sewn into his football boots in a bid to improve his football performance.

The design which he helped with, is strongly based on David's interest in Eastern mystic culture, saying "I'm very proud to wear these football boots because they represent the idea of yin and yang."

They are personalised with stitching of the names of his three children, his initials, his favoured number 23 and Beckham's printed signature for the ultimate Bling factor.

Beckham put the Bling-Bling into football boots as no one has done before and he reigns supreme as the King of Bling.

All Hail the King of Bling: David Beckham.

History of Soccer and Politics

The auction for the third edition of the Indian Premier League began and ended on 19th January in Mumbai, India. At the start of the auction, there was anticipation, excitement, and restlessness about the highest bids and the most popular players. At the end of the auction, the one fact that escaped no one's attention was that not even a single player from Pakistan had been bid for.

Politics had one again influenced sport. Despite claims to the contrary, it was obvious to all that the Pakistani players had been snubbed as a result of increasing strained diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan. Cricket is not the only sport to be affected by the interdependence of politics and sport. Soccer is another sport that has seen innumerable examples of politics intertwining with sport.

The complicated relationship between the French and the Algerians is one example where the sport has been responsible in equal measure for instigating diplomatic tension between the two nations and also having a uniting influence. When the Algerian team secretly recruited French-based Algerian players into the national team in 1958, it led to diplomatic tension between the two nations but also led to international recognition of the Algerian struggle for independence. More recently, French soccer has consistently included multicultural recruits in its teams, but the political motivations of its players have led to controversy.

A case in point is Zinedine Zidane. A French-born player of Algerian descent who stepped into the international spotlight while playing for the French national team, his contribution to France's first world cup championship in 1998 led to such lofty but nevertheless ideas as "two flags, reconciled". The IPL incident is not the first incident of politics influencing sport, and neither will it be the last.
